About:
Silk Purse, Sow’s Ear is an independent Edinburgh-based jewellery label which specialises in handmade jewellery and personalised lockets and necklaces.
We are looking for a Studio Assistant to join our friendly team, to support us through the busy Christmas period.
The role is based from our studio in Castlebrae Business Centre, which is located within a few minutes from Edinburgh City Centre with excellent travel links.
Duties:
Duties will be varied and may include:
- Helping us make our personalised lockets and other jewellery to order
- Packing up jewellery orders, including gift wrapping
- Helping us respond to customer enquiries and general studio administration
- Basic editing of customer images using Adobe Photoshop
Full training in all tasks will be provided by us in studio, so no particular experience is necessary.
This is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to gain experience of working in a creative studio environment.
Person Specification:
We are looking for a friendly, conscientious and confident person who is organised, self-motivated, quick to learn and happy to work under their own initiative.
An interest in arts and craft and some experience of working with your hands would be an advantage. Essential qualities for the role are a friendly and flexible attitude towards work, reliability and an excellent eye for detail.
The period of employment will be from mid-October until late-December, to provide support over the busy Christmas period. All training will be provided by the Studio Manager.
